GPHS is the only school in PGCPS to introduce the CASE curriculum to teach agricultural science.
CASE Pathways at GPHS
9th Grade - Introduction to Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) introduces students to the range of agricultural opportunities and the pathways of study they may pursue. Science, mathematics, reading, and writing components are woven in the context of agriculture and students will use the introductory skills and knowledge developed in this course throughout the CASEā¢ curriculum.
10th Grade - Principles of Agricultural Science - Animal is a foundation-level course designed to engage students in hands-on laboratories and activities to explore the world of animal agriculture. Throughout the course, students will develop a comprehensive Producer's Management Guide for an animal of their choice.
11th Grade - Animal and Plant Biotechnology, a specialization course in the CASE Program of Study, provides students with experiences in industry appropriate applications of biotechnology related to plant and animal agriculture. Students will complete hands-on activities, projects, and problems designed to build content knowledge and technical skill in the field of biotechnology.
12th Grade - Capstone The capstone course is an opportunity for students to demonstrate that they have achieved the goals for learning established by the CASE curriculum in Plant Science, Animal Science, or Biotechnology.
